Home Case Studies Rotavator New Product Development
Project Scope
- Phase 1: Market Study & Competitor Analysis
- Phase 2: Concept Design, Brainstorming & Validation
- Phase 3: Prototype Build & Field Testing
- Phase 4: Manufacturing Implementation
- Phase 5: Manuals & Spare Parts Catalogue Updates
Business Challenges
- Selection of the correct chain/gear reduction ratio for the primary and
secondary drive, with calculations for the required RPM (240 RPM with a
21-tooth and 18-tooth gear combination) for 70 HP PTO tractors with a 56-
blade configuration - Determining the appropriate flange size and spacing to ensure a cutting
depth of 8” (200mm) - Providing ongoing support for resolving prototype build issues and
conducting testing
ARi’s Solutions
- Released part (sheet metal, gearbox casting, and machining) and assembly
drawings for prototype build (150 units within 1 month) - Validated product design for structural strength within an accepted stress
level of 250 MPa - Provided support for resolving prototype build issues and conducted testing
- Updated CAD models and drawings for manufacturing based on feedback
from prototype build testing - Updated product manuals and spare parts catalogue
ARi’s Value Proposition
- Enabled rapid prototype delivery (150 units) to support early field trials and
production planning - Reduced product weight by 80 kg, enhancing fuel efficiency and operational
performance - Ensured consistent cutting depth (200 mm), improving field output quality
- Accelerated transition to mass production with ready-to-use assembly jigs
and documentation
